About AN
The military and aerospace 37° flare that motorsport fuel, oil and coolant plumbing is built on. AN fittings share the 37° seat and UNF thread sizes with JIC, so a -6 AN mates with a -6 JIC, but the threads are held to the tighter class 3A and 3B. Usually 6061 aluminum, anodized red, blue or black.

About Hose barb
Barbed spigot for soft tube such as vinyl, silicone, PU and PE, sized to the tube inside diameter from 1/16 in to 1 in and 2 to 25 mm. Sharp ridges grip the tube; add a clamp or ferrule above 30 psi. Used for dosing, lab fluidics, coolant, aquariums, beverage and irrigation lines.
