FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about ordering, quality, shipping and prototypes.
How is the pressure rating calculated?
Each end starts from its standard's published working pressure for steel, scaled by a material factor. We then check every wall (thread root to bore on male ends, port to outside on female ends, and the elbow body) with Barlow's formula at a 4:1 safety factor on tensile strength. The lowest number wins, and we tell you which feature is limiting.
How is pricing calculated?
Price is built from real costs: bar stock sized to your part, machine time for each feature, tooling, finishing, inspection and packing. Setup is shared across similar orders, so there are no setup fees on your invoice. Larger runs cost less each because setup spreads further, machines run faster once dialed in, bar is bought in bulk and inspection moves to sampling. Runs of 1,000 or more also carry a lower margin.
Do push fit ports work with SharkBite style tube?
Yes. CTS push to connect ports take the same PEX, copper and CPVC tube at standard insertion depths, using a stainless grab ring cartridge pressed in after machining. Pneumatic sizes take nylon, PU and PE tube. SharkBite is a trademark of its owner and Specport is not affiliated.
Can you make injector adapters and spacers?
Yes. Injector cups are bored and honed to the O ring bore you pick, with a 15° lead chamfer. Spigots are turned with an O ring groove. Confirm the bore for your injector model before ordering.
Can you make barbed fittings and Y’s for soft tube?
Yes. Hose barbs are sized to the tube ID, from 1/16 in to 1 in and 2 to 25 mm, and can go on any end of a straight adapter, tee, Y or manifold. Y bodies split at 60° and are contour milled from solid bar. Clamp or ferrule the tube above 30 psi.
How are tees, crosses and manifolds made?
They are milled from square or rectangular bar. Ports are machined into the faces, bores are cross drilled to meet, and every intersection is deburred. Manifolds take 2 to 8 identical outlets on one or two faces, with the far end open or closed.
How do I reorder a part?
Every spec sheet and order confirmation shows a reorder code. Paste it on your account page and the exact configuration comes back, including bores, finish and options.
Can you machine cartridge valve cavities?
Yes, in common 08, 10, 12 and 16 sizes, in line bodies, tees and manifolds. Cavities are cut with the valve maker's form tool, so we confirm your valve model and side port routing before machining.
Do you have track and quality records?
Every order has a tracking page with each production step, and a certificate of conformance. Pressure test reports and material certs appear there when ordered.
What is the minimum order?
There is no piece minimum. Choose Custom under quantity to order 1 or 2. Single parts start at $105 and pairs at $55 each, and orders under $29 are billed at $29. For a test fit only, a $40 printed prototype is cheaper.
Do female JIC ends swivel?
Female JIC ends from the builder are fixed seats machined into the body. Swivel nuts are available through a STEP upload and custom quote.
What if a part is wrong?
Every order is thread gauged. If a part is out of spec we remake or refund it.
Can I change my order after placing it?
Yes, within 4 business hours. After that your part may already be in production.
Do you ship outside the US?
We ship to the US and Canada today.
How do 3D printed prototypes work?
Choose "Request a 3D printed prototype" under the price. It is $40 per piece plus shipping, for test fit only.
Is quantity pricing available?
Yes. The price updates as you change quantity, and the price breaks under the total show 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 and 1,000 pieces.
